Isabel Sanchez Sevillano is a lighting designer at Dot Dash, New York.
She is a licensed architect in Spain, where she is originally from.
After studiyng architecture in Barcelona at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya and at the European University of Madrid, she move to New York to studied an MFA in Lighting Design at Parsons the New School for Design.
As an architect and lighting designer she is a fervent believer in the concept of total architecture and design as a tool, where light always plays the most important link between the space and who inhabits it, the people.

Enhancing human experience in a confined environment through light interaction
As members of society we have to be aware of the issues and concerns of our time, and as lighting designers we must be aware of the responsibility we have and use light as a tool for improvement never as an instrument of torture.
The design result of solitary confinement cells (SHU) are devastating for the mental health of anyone who is under such conditions. We can greatly improve the conditions within an isolation cell (SHU) through light interaction, by simply increasing the external stimuli that an inmate receives, and giving them a greater ability to interact with their environment.
