The VIA Group is the organiser of the Professional Lighting Design Convention – PLDC.
The first convention took place in London/UK in 2007, welcoming more than 1000 attendees from around the world, who added to their knowledge and skills by attending their choice of papers from more than 70 presentations. PLDC also offered them the opportunity to network with peers, potential clients or business partners and discuss new products and developments with colleagues from the lighting industry.
The second PLDC, 2009 in Berlin, was even more successful and confirmed the importance of the event for the lighting community.
PLDC 2011 in Madrid followed under the motivating motto “¡vamos!” and comprised a further significant step towards establishing recognition of the lighting design profession. Interested parties met in a forum which was organised by CELMA, ELC and PLDA and moderated by VIA, to share information on the state of the lighting market and the role of the lighting designer within that market, and to promote dialogue on a political level. The story continues at PLDC 2013 in Copenhagen, which took place from 30. October to 2. November, 2013.
PLDC 2015 in Rome was yet another unforgettable event. With approximately 1700 international attendees, papers and interactive sessions, six Keynote Speakers, 14 self-running poster presentations, moderated discussions, the newly developed Experience Rooms and other educational and networking events, PLDC counts as one of the biggest conventions of its kind worldwide.
The location for PLDC 2017 was announced during the Gala Dinner: it will be Paris, France.
